TRAVEL - Reggae Mansion Review, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

If you're still looking for the best place to stay in the bewildering Kuala Lumpur, you can stop after reading this post!
Malaysia's capitol Kuala Lumpur is one of Southeast Asia's favourite spot for backpackers all over the globe (and that's probably how you're reading this post right now.) With a bucket full of attractions and experiences there's something for everyone - the fact that is very affordable helps to drive tourism within the city and has plenty to offer regardless of your budget.

During our stay we were very fortunate to be able to partner up with Reggae Mansion, known as the BEST party hostel in KL. Hidden away in the colourful Chinatown District you will find the luxurious Reggae Mansion, upon seeing it you'd never believe it was hostel. Kuala Lumpur is a city that you will experience best by walking, so it's crucial to ensure you're staying in the best location.. which you will be!
It's as the name states, a colonial three story MANSION. Reggae Mansion is the largest hostel we have ever stayed in, but we were pleasantly surprised by the continuity of it. With stunning tiled floors and chic, vintage furniture on display in every hall way it gives the feel of being within a luxury home - and as an added bonus, it also includes a rooftop bar for you to enjoy too!

The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much for them. We were given plenty of recommendations on what to see and do while in Kuala Lumpur, they even gave us a recommendation for a hair cut for Michael. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within minutes of leaving the hostel, including central market and night markets to take a pick of to.

During our time at Reggae Mansion we stayed in a twin room at the back of the building. Our room was amazing, it was like staying in a vintage hotel. We had white, wooden beds with floral decorative moldings and duck egg blue, floral wallpaper. All the furniture within the room was vintage white wood with cute shabby chic drawer knobs - Like something our of Downton Abbey. All rooms come with A/C and a fab so you'll never be too warm, but if you prefer natural air the majority of rooms come with shutter windows to the outdoor common areas of main street. The beds were extremely comfortable with a thin sheet for comfortable while also including a fleece blanket on each bed for those who need a bit more warmth. The majority of the rooms are dorm rooms which fill the floors - but our floor was primarily private twin/double rooms which were perfect for couples or those who just needed some privacy.

The hallways are long and elegant with a vintage blue theme running from the walls to the tiled floor. With comfortable chairs and stunning art work on the walls, it's gorgeous just to walk around the place. The building is split into three main sections, separated with bright and airy court yards where we you can sit back and relax during your stay. These sections have 3 floors, with shared showers and bathrooms included on each. The mansion itself has so much more to offer rather than just a place to rest your head. Everywhere we explored was immaculately clean and smelt like fresh apples (I'm guessing that's the fragrance of the cleaner they used).

The hostel goes the extra mile and provides fresh towels, shampoo and shower gel for all guests. is also home to a restaurant, launderette (washed and dried in 3 hours), a 40-seat cinema room and even a roof top bar! Reggae Mansion now also offers an amazing tour of the best attractions in KL (Which I will soon be writing a post about) - these destinations include the Batu Caves, National Mosque, National Palace, Butterfly Garden and so much more. The tour includes your friendly guide Fazrin who drives you around the city for the entire day. Fazrin was perfect, very down to earth and respectable - he'll be your new best friend in no time.

The rooftop bar over looks the Twin Towers and KL Tower which light up every night. You can enjoy your unlimited beers (for 50MYR) from 9-10pm with a backdrop of the tallest towers in the world. The bar offers imported beers, mixers and a variety of swanky cocktails. You can enjoy a game of Pool or Foosball on their immaculate games tables, while later in the evening they have an in house DJ play songs from the last 20 years to get you going long through the night. On weekends they bring in fantastic DJ's to make the night even better for guests and also or locals!

With a night staying in the standard dorm starting at £7 including breakfast and free entry to the roof top bar you'd be foolish to stay anywhere else. You can book your stay through their Booking page.
If you book using THIS LINK, you'll receive 10% off your booking (over £10) and I'll get some spending money to help me keep updating this blog for you :)
